Make the first session easy for a new squadmate
A welcoming squad makes the goal, the language and the next step clear before the pressure rises.
Agree on a small goal
Start with a casual route or one focused practice round. Explain the controls and the words your squad uses most often. Ask what the new player wants to try rather than assuming what they need.
Leave room to notice
Allow a pause after a difficult section. Describe what happened in simple terms and offer one helpful option. A quiet moment to look around can teach more than a constant stream of instructions.
Finish with something concrete
Name one good decision and one next experiment. Share the route or timing note that helped, then agree on a manageable follow-up session. The first meeting should make the next one easier to begin.
